Medical Transcription is the process of transcribing (typing out) medical records while listening to recorded dictation of doctors. Medical Transcription is the fastest emerging field. The salaries for an MT start from Rs. 8,000/- per month. MTs are also eligible for incentives linked to their monthly volumes. Good MTs can earn above Rs. 13,000/- per month including incentives, after about four months in production.
PRs draw an initial salary of Rs. 16,000/- per month. Take home salaries for good PRs can be around Rs. 20,000/- per month, including incentives, after four months of experience as a PR.
Senior professionals draw anywhere upwards of Rs.30,000/- per month.
Training for Medical Transcription includes American English, Medicine, transcription-related software, computer and internet skills etc. Training duration is for 2 months, six days a week, followed by two to four months of on-the-job training for practical orientation. Training expenses are borne by the company. TransDyne also provides stipends for eligible trainee MTs, proofreaders and editors.
